Sarah's story
Sarah from Nairn in the Highlands was fourteen years old when she took part in our young writers programme, and has experience of being in care.

She wanted to improve her writing skills and confidence and share her personal experiences to help others in similar situations.
At the time, Sarah said ‘I didn’t even think I could do writing as a career, ever, but I think now I could probably go on to do something in higher education, or maybe write my own book some time.’
Since her writing programme, Sarah hasn’t looked back and quickly achieved her dream of publishing her story online to help other care-experienced young people. She has now turned this story into a full-length memoir and has been accepted into university to study Law and Psychology.
'I think more than anything the programme helped me accept that my ideas and stories were important and that I deserved to be listened to. It gave me confidence to share my experiences with others and to always make time for writing! It was so accessible and helpful to a young person like myself and the opportunities that came from it were once in a life time to someone like me.'
