Every year the New Writers Awards spotlights an amazing array of new writing talent in Scotland ­– now is your chance to hear the 2022 awardees read from their own work at our fabulous showcase.

Join our fabulous host Kirstin Innes(this will open in a new window) and see our talented writers perform, then take a copy of their words home with you; our New Writing sampler – also available to download here(this will open in a new window) – will be hot off the press.

If you can't attend the event in person, it will be livestreamed on the night on our Twitter and Instagram and filmed for our YouTube channel, where the video will be captioned.

On the night

Masks are welcome and socially distant seating will be available near the back of the room. We can also reserve seats for anyone who needs them for accessibility reasons. Please get in touch if you have any access questions or issues. You'll also find the Assembly Roxy's accessibility information online(this will open in a new window).

You will be able to buy books from previous and current awardees on the night, thanks to help from the incredible Lighthouse Books(this will open in a new window) and Gaelic Books Council(this will open in a new window).

Spotlighting our new writers

The prestigious judging panel had the hard task of selected our talented awardees from hundreds of entries.

Our panellists included Jen Campbell, Laura Fyfe and Sean Wai Keung on Poetry, Sheena Kalayil and Jenny Colgan on Fiction and Narrative Non Fiction as well as Akemi Dawn Bowman and Ross Sayers on Children's and YA. The Gaelic Books Council selects the Gaelic New Writer Awardee.
