Create your own insect pictures

You will need:

• Natural objects: petals, leaves, twigs etc

Extras if you have them:

• Cardboard
• Glue

Instructions:

• Collect natural objects to create your own insect pictures. Use petals, leaves, twigs and other natural items
• You could display your bug pictures by sticking them onto pieces of cardboard
• Try this activity at different times of the year as you will find different natural items depending on the season

Make your own playdough bugs

You will need:

• Flour
• Water

Extras if you have them

Colourful plants, vegetables or spices to dye the dough different colours, such as:

• Green or red cabbage leaves
• Beetroot juice
• Turmeric spice
• Bicarbonate of soda

Instructions:

For basic playdough:

• Add water to flour and mix
• Knead until you have a soft dough

For coloured playdough:

• Boil your colourful plant, vegetable or spice
• Add the coloured water to the flour and mix
• Knead until you have a soft dough

Top tip: the blue colour is made by adding some bicarbonate of soda to the red cabbage water!
