Sensory Stories Summer Roadshow with Marion Kenny

You can register for an event with Marion Kenny until 17 June 2025

Step into a world of imagination with storyteller and musician Marion Kenny, whose rich blend of music, movement, and storytelling creates a joyful, sensory-friendly experience for children and young people with additional support needs.

With over 40 years of experience as a performer, teacher, and specialist in additional needs, Marion brings stories to life using harp, flutes, singing bowls, mbiras, bells, and more, immersing the audience in a magical sound world. Sessions may also include juggling scarves, magic, and fans, depending on the needs and preferences of the group.

Marion designs every session to suit the specific group, age range, and support needs, offering flexibility and creativity in a safe, inclusive environment. She has worked at Rachel House Hospice in Fife for Storytelling Unplugged, in ASN schools, residential homes, and at Edinburgh Sick Kids Hospital, where she also trained and worked as a clown doctor. Her experience includes leading residential projects with The Cumnock Tryst festival and the Teenage Cancer Trust. Marion has worked with people with a wide range of disabilities, including profound and complex needs, often delivering one-to-one sessions.

What is the Sensory Stories Summer Roadshow?

The Sharing Sensory Stories Summer Roadshow is part of Sensory Storytelling, our three-year programme which brings the magic of author visits and the many benefits of books and sensory storytelling to children and young people in Scotland. These events have been designed for children with additional support needs in mind and can be easily tailored to meet the requirements of the children in your setting.

Our Scottish Book Trust team are also on-hand to support you with the events and are happy to provide advice, guidance, or discuss any requirements in advance of the event, to ensure your children and young people get the most out of the experience.
