Sensory Stories Summer Roadshow with Betty Skelton

You can register for an event with Betty Skelton until 17 June 2025

Join Betty Skelton for a magical, interactive storytelling session specially designed for children and young people with additional support needs. Betty brings years of experience working in nurturing environments creating warm, flexible experiences that engage all.

In this session, Betty will share her original story inspired by the life cycle of a butterfly – a gentle and engaging tale where a curious caterpillar meets a host of friendly (and sometimes not-so-friendly!) insects on its journey of transformation. The story is brought to life with songs, rhymes and fun actions that keep everyone involved and entertained, no matter their age or ability.

The session is fully adaptable in length and content to suit the needs of your group, whether it's a class of school-age children or a mix of ages. Betty uses touchable props to make the story tangible and sensory-friendly, and there’s the option to follow the storytelling with simple creative activities to help participants explore the story even further.

Expect laughter, learning, and lots of imagination in a calm and inclusive environment.

What is the Sensory Stories Summer Roadshow?

The Sharing Sensory Stories Summer Roadshow is part of Sensory Storytelling, our three-year programme which brings the magic of author visits and the many benefits of books and sensory storytelling to children and young people in Scotland.

These events have been designed for children with additional support needs in mind and can be easily tailored to meet the requirements of the children in your setting.

Our Scottish Book Trust team are also on-hand to support you with the events and are happy to provide advice, guidance, or discuss any requirements in advance of the event, to ensure your children and young people get the most out of the experience.
