This laugh-out-loud mystery adventure is full of roadside hijinks with runaway roadworks and emotional machinery. Perfect for sharing together with plenty of sound effects and funny voices.
Story tips
- Try adding some fun action sounds while you share the book – ‘vroom vroom’ for cars, ‘choo choo’ for trains or ‘rumble rumble’ for diggers.
- You could sing a song or play a game of tig with Here we go round the Mulberry Bush but change the words to fit the cone, Here we go chasing the runaway cone on a cold and frosty morning.
- Play with your voice – give different characters, cones and vehicles, silly voices. Toddlers will love the fun. Spot the details – toddlers enjoy noticing the little jokes in the illustrations (e.g. faces on the cones). See if the child can tell you how the cones are feeling.
- Why not use the Bookbug app for inspiration and find some ‘On the move songs’ to sing along while sharing the story e.g. The Wheels on the Bus, Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, Big Green Tractor.
