Reading Schools Week(this link will open in a new window) kicks off in style with a virtual event featuring award-winning writer Nadine Aisha Jassat(this link will open in a new window), author of the poetry collection Let Me Tell You This(this link will open in a new window) and the middle-grade verse novel The Stories Grandma Forgot (And How I Found Them).
In this event, Nadine will read from Let Me Tell You This, her debut poetry collection that explores gender, racism, gender-based violence, and the sustaining, restorative bonds between women, as well as the power of speaking out.
The reading will be followed by a discussion on creative writing, including a practical writing prompt designed to spark pupils’ imaginations and support immersive creative writing in the classroom.
