The Valley of Time

Author: Cara Henderson
Year: Future

As I walked across the void of time,
There lay the land.
The land of brave, and true,
but also greed and torment.

My fingers clasp the time waves so bright in colour. They call to me,
Softly they whisper things,
Things I'd rather forget.
They speak, calling my name.
The sounds of war, and aversion,
The sound of drums and celebrations,
The sound of children, laughing, the spoils of war.

Our planet, lying so still and quiet, with flakes of green and blue.
To the creeping antelope
And peaceful humpback whale,
To the blades of grass with tears of bloodshed. A thousand years.

It has been many years, so many soulful decades.
There lay a future, a future for all
There lay the children, who's hopes and dreams sustain us,
A time for change is upon us,
A chance for rejuvenation, for an eclipse of the moon to shower us, to help grow us, as we bathe in the light.
The meadow lies silent, no animals to be found.
No birds singing, no trees whispering, just silence.
Stale air, as the doomsday clock intends of striking.
The harsh sound of sirens and screaming,
Of helpless children in the eyes of law, begging for second chance.
These mere mortals cannot digress the challenge that we gave them,
Keep your planet for your own, cherish another, look after one and other.

For humanity will be doomed to fail, for those who do not try.
