What's Your Story?

What’s Your Story? supports Scotland’s young writers and illustrators in creating peer-designed resources for other creative teenagers, while also boosting their own skills, voice and confidence.

What's your Story?

Every Autumn, we put out a call out for young people in Scotland (aged 14-17) to join us as part of the What’s Your Story? development team for a year. A handful of talented teens receive a comprehensive ‘crash course’ in living and working as writers and illustrators in Scotland today – from working with a mentor to heading off on a creative retreat together as well as helping us create new opportunities for their fellow teens, like StoryCon and StoryMag. This year we're supporting seven young people across Scotland who are working on performance poetry, short stories, novels and illustration.

StoryCon is a flagship creative writing and illustration conference open to 13–19-year-olds in Scotland that’s organised by the teens on the What’s Your Story? programme (with help and support from Scottish Book Trust).

It’s a one of a kind opportunity to meet likeminded, creative teenagers as well as take part in bespoke workshops from professional writers, illustrators, poets, editors and more. StoryCon is free, lunch in provided and we’ve space for up to 100 teens.

The online magazine showcases and champions 13–19-year-old writers and illustrators from around Scotland. All submissions receive professional feedback as well as the chance to be featured in the magazine.

You can also find writing opportunities for children and teenagers on the What's Your Story? website.
