This Christmas will be a difficult one for many families. We want to spread some joy and create special moments by gifting books to vulnerable families who are depending on food banks and community hubs over the festive season.
HOPE for the future. That's mostly what the clients that come to our food bank need as much as food.
Everyone deserves a little bit of magic at Christmas. If you are able to, please consider donating £5 to give a book to a family who is struggling. As someone who loves books, you know the joy, calm and togetherness they bring. For many families, the books provided by Scottish Book Trust will be the only ones in their home.
With your help, we hope to support at least 3,000 families through our Christmas Appeal. The books gifted will cover a range of ages including children and adults.
A gift certificate is available if you wish to donate as a Christmas gift for a loved one or a Secret Santa.
Please be aware that due to COVID restrictions and the logistical constraints of our team working from home, we are unable to receive personal book donations or second hand books as part of this project.
Money raised from this appeal will also support our work helping families in need throughout 2021. Examples of our projects include supporting vulnerable families with babies and young children to start them on their reading journey together, providing tactile books for children with additional support needs and supporting those living with dementia, and their carers.
