Reading Schools 50 Word Fiction competition: write a story featuring a bookmark

In this special edition of our 50 Word Fiction competition, we're celebrating Reading Schools Week with the opportunity for young writers aged between 5 –11 and 12-18 to win a prize of book tokens for themselves – and also for their class!

Reading Schools Week(this link will open in a new window) is a five-day extravaganza celebrating the incredible activity taking place in Reading Schools across the country.

The competition is open to all schools in Scotland who are registered for Reading Schools Week with one entry permitted per child. Students can enter themselves or teachers can send the stories on their behalf.

Young writers can send one entry per competition, and the author of the winning story in each age category will receive a certificate and:

The entries will be judged by a panel. The two winning stories will be published on our website roughly two weeks after the closing date.

Our February edition of 50 Word Fiction is also running as normal – using a different prompt and open in four categories.
