Read, Write, Count resources for librarians
We've put together a 20–30 minute sessions for each of this year's Read, Write, Count titles so you can run interactive family sessions in your library. Each session includes reading the book together, songs and rhymes and tie-in activities and arts and crafts. We've also put in some ideas for follow-up sessions, allowing you to revisit the books throughout the year.
Below you'll also find a downloadable poster which you can use to advertise these sessions in your library.
Whilst Read, Write, Count gifts bags to children in P2 and P3, you can keep these sessions open to all families, and they don't rely upon the families having prior knowledge of the books. This year's books are as follows:
P2
- The Perfect Fit by Naomi Jones and James Jones
- Out of Nowhere by Chris Naylor-Ballesteros
P3
- The Story Thief by Graham Carter
- Jeremy Worried About the Wind by Pamela Butchart and Kate Hindley
You can find further learning resources and videos of the books being read aloud on the Read, Write, Count section of our website. The winning design will be printed on all the new Read, Write, Count bags gifted during Book Week Scotland in November 2023.
