I'm a fiction writer, poet, and spoken word artist with a lot of experience in performance and leading workshops. As the former Writer in Residence at Edinburgh University, I worked with students who were earning degrees in creative writing as well as those who'd never written before, and I'm happy to tailor my workshops and readings to any group of teens or adults.

I've recently begun volunteering with a group in Ukraine, ENGin, which supports Ukrainians who want to improve their English. While most of my work with them is online, I've travelled to western Ukraine to lead a writing workshop – it was delayed because we all had to shelter in an underground car park during a massive drone attack, but the workshop did happen!

I've read and performed my work at a variety of festivals and events, ranging from open mics in Pacific Northwest mill towns and bars in Harlem to the Swedish and Scottish national slam poetry championships and the Edinburgh International Book Festival. I've won a New Writers Award from the Scottish Book Trust and five Creative Scotland grants, and was a Fulbright scholar to Romania in creative writing. I've published a historical novel and four poetry collections.

I'm happy to meet writers and readers throughout Scotland, and have done workshops and readings in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Paisley, Greenock, Cumbernauld, Perth, Aberdeen, St Andrews, Inverness, and Skye – I love to travel and will happily go anywhere!
