Sarah Painter's headshot

I am a full-time novelist and run a podcast and website called The Worried Writer, which aims to help other writers to overcome fear, self-doubt and procrastination. I can deliver workshops and talks on writing process and productivity, independent and traditional publishing (I have experience of both and run a hybrid career), and my own novels.

My books include dual narrative historical fiction, contemporary fiction with a touch of magic, and urban fantasy. I have also produced a non-fiction book based on my own experience and the author interviews in my podcast Stop Worrying; Start Writing: How To Overcome Fear, Self-Doubt and Procrastination. I have led events for Advanced Higher English students, undergraduates, and adult groups, and hold a degree in English Literature and the MLitt in Creative Writing from St Andrews University. I am also available to chair events, drawing on my experience as an interviewer for both The Worried Writer podcast and in my past life as a magazine journalist. (Photo credit: Suzanne Black)
