Call Billy 07471 949129 is a work of social realism set in Edinburgh. Staying safe in a family where the threat of violence was as real as the food on the table forced me to second guess the thoughts of those around me. As an adult understanding my past was the key to a better future and has brought an authenticity to my work.

At events I have spoken about how unchecked psychological damage can spread like a virus through the generations and how my own experience has shaped my personal and professional path, in both positive and negative ways. I enjoy teasing out my own journey to publication and involve the audience when possible in discussion. If appropriate, I leave a printout of possible questions on chairs, to help people overcome shyness. I prefer an informal setting and enjoy answering all the usual questions about plot, character, style, editing, submissions, coping with rejection etc.

Calling Billy from my mobile, through a loud speaker, always raises a titter: Billy answers the call. He's in a panic, in a pub and he's been trying to get hold of his old mate, Stevie, to warn him Do please call 07471 949129 now!
