Russell is an Edinburgh-based writer and editor. He is the UK Pet Poet Laureate, has published five poetry collections and edited 3 writing anthologies. Russell has more than a decade of experience teaching in primary schools, high schools, universities and community projects, including working with learners with additional support needs.
He has published poetry and prose for adults and younger people, including short stories for Disney. He has written novels for adults and young adults. Russell is the deputy editor of Scotland's only sci-fi magazine. He organises and hosts monthly sci-fi cabaret nights in Edinburgh.
