I write fiction (short stories and novels) and non-fiction (travel and adventure, biography, essays, outdoors articles) and am willing to talk about any of these kinds of writing. I have adjudicated competitions for writers' clubs, the Scottish Association of Writers, and for the Autumn Voices blog. For several years I was a Tutor in Creative Writing for the Lifelong Learning classes at Glasgow University. The course covered all the basics of writing both fiction and non-fiction.

I have run workshops or given talks on aspects of writing to schools, writers' clubs, on cruise ships, rotary clubs and reading groups. My two most recent books have been non-fiction about creativity in later life and I have talked about this at Luminate events, Lapidus events, Grey Matters and other health-related groups. My approach depends on what people want. It varies: talks and readings, slide shows, discussions or workshops with full participation can all be arranged.
