Niamh Ní Mhaoileoin's headshot

Niamh Ní Mhaoileoin is an Irish writer, living and working in Edinburgh. Their work focuses on themes of identity and belief, grief, immigration and emigration, LGBTQ+ issues, faith, family and activism.

Niamh’s debut novel, Ordinary Saints, was published in 2025. It was shortlisted for the Waterstones Debut Fiction Prize, the Books Are My Bag Readers Awards, the Women’s Prize Discoveries and the Kate O’Brien Award. It was longlisted for the Dublin Literary Award and won the PFD Queer Fiction Prize. They’ve also been published in Gutter, Fierce Salvage: A Queer Words Anthology, the Irish Times, Open Book, the New Statesman and many other publications.

Niamh has spoken at literary festivals and bookshops all over Scotland, England and Ireland. As a workshop facilitator and mentor, they’ve worked with a wide range of community groups, charities and campaigns, including LGBTQ+ festivals, unpaid carers, Paralympic athletes, trade union reps, and feminist activists.

Niamh is an experienced book event chair and writing workshop facilitator.
