Metaphrog are award-winning graphic novelists Sandra Marrs and John Chalmers - multiple Eisner Awards nominees, winners of The Sunday Herald Scottish Culture Awards Best Visual Artist 2016, Excelsior Award Junior 2018, and SICBA Outstanding Achievement 2018. Their latest graphic novels are fairy tale adaptations The Red Shoes and Other Tales, The Little Mermaid and Bluebeard: A Feminist Fairy Tale, all published by Papercutz.
Metaphrog have delivered 600+ sessions and love to share their creative process and the secrets of making comics. Their events have proved popular with children and adults, and are interactive, fun and educational. They adapt talks and workshops to suit different age groups, preferring 7-12. They love to do illustrated talks to large assemblies as well as class-sized audiences, and are available for a variety of virtual events. Graphic novels provide access to literature and literacy and the topics covered extend across the curriculum.
Metaphrog were patrons of reading at Northfield Academy, Writers in Residence at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, and Graphic Novel Authors in Residence with Glasgow Life at Holyrood Secondary. They have spoken at prestigious venues such as Glasgow School of Art; Gordonstoun, The National Library of Scotland, Edinburgh International Book Festival, The Guardian and at international schools and festivals around the world.
