Max Scratchmann is equally well-known for his lush and darkly intriguing artwork and his varied writing and storytelling. He has been a full-time writer and illustrator since the late 1970s and is the author of over 18 books plus literally hundreds of poems and short stories which have appeared in magazines and anthologies all over the world.

He is also a popular performance poet and runs the spoken word theatre company Poetry Circus. You can catch him at many Edinburgh literary events all year and at festivals and fringes all over Scotland each summer, including annually at Wild Hood where he is the Take Away poet in residence.
