LD Lapinski is the best-selling author of the Artezans trilogy, Jamie, the Stepfather Christmas duology, and The Strangeworlds Travel Agency series, including Adventure in the Floating Mountains, which was a 2023 World Book Day title. Their books have been nominated for the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Writing, Diverse Book Awards and Polari Prize, and selected as part of the Empathy Lab UK collection. They have also written for the BBC’s Doctor Who novels, the Writers’ and Artists’ Yearbook, and The Book of Hopes. All of LD’s books published in North America have been awarded a Kirkus Star, and are published around the world in sixteen languages.

LD is a PGCE-qualified teacher with an MA in Creative Writing. They have done countless school and library visits, and led courses with Bloomsbury Institute, Moniack Mhor, and Pop Up Projects Ltd. Their sessions focus on a range of subjects from the life of an author, to writing LGBTQ+ representation, to world-building, comic outlining and more.

The first volume of LD's debut YA graphic novel Kickflip, created with illustrator Logan Hanning, will be published in June 2025. LD's first science-fiction novel for adults, Some Body Like Me, will be published in April 2025.
