Former merchant seaman, ice cream van driver, hand model, pop video extra and Perrier Award-nominated stand-up comedian. As an actor, he’s appeared on TV and in movies, as well as voicing hundreds of TV and radio commercials. As a writer, he’s written for TV and radio, but is best known for being the author of 45 books for children, including the best-selling and award-winning series, The World Of Norm, which has been translated into 20 languages. He has also written books for younger children, including the Noodle the Doodle series for Barrington Stoke, as well as titles published by Harper Collins, Bloomsbury and Macmillan, amongst others. His Yo! Diary! books were adapted into a 26-part TV series for CBBC, whilst his most recent picture book, Scaredy Bat (Little Door Books) was nominated for the Bookbug Prize. Jonathan's background, in comedy and children’s theatre, ensures that he’s been in constant demand at schools, events and book festivals throughout the UK and beyond, ever since his first book was published, in 1998. “A masterclass of revving up children into a frenzy of excitement and laughter and then drawing them back in through the power of storytelling” – Nick Bevington, Headteacher, Dulwich College, Singapore.
