I’ve written three crime thrillers: Way Beyond A Lie (standalone), Be Sure Your Sins, and Yes, I Killed Her. The latter two begin a series starring DI Melissa (Mel) Cooper and her sidekick DS Andrew Young.

I’m a native of Edinburgh – more specifically, Leith – and my stories are set in and around that area. Write about what you know, and all that.

I love talking with readers in person and online, and I’ve conducted events at Granite Noir crime festival (Aberdeen) and involving journalists, library audiences, community groups and organisations. I’ve also designed, organised and hosted three launch events for my books in Aberdeen and Edinburgh – attended by over 220 people in total. These were audio-visual and interactive through audience question and answer sessions.

I’m comfortable speaking about a writer’s skills and attributes including storyboarding, scene setting, characterisation, narrative, dialogue, beginnings endings and middles, editing and polishing, manuscript submissions, interacting through social media and various other platforms (e.g. my website).

I live in Aberdeen with my wife, Shiona and our dog. We’re into travel, outdoor stuff, wine and food, and if all four can be aligned then so much the better.
