Hamish MacDonald's headshot

Hamish MacDonald writes in English and Scots, is published in poetry and fiction, and has written several plays which have toured in Scotland and overseas, adapting two plays into award-winning series for BBC Radio Scotland. He is a contributor to several of Itchy Coo Publishing's Scots language books.

From 2015-17 Hamish was the first Scots Scriever with the National Library of Scotland, helping create the Wee Windaes website in association with the National Library and Education Scotland. Hamish is a founder and former joint artistic director of Dogstar Theatre Company, was the first Robert Burns Writing Fellow for Dumfries and Galloway Arts Association and as 'Bankies Bard' is honorary poet for Clydebank Football Club. He is a former Scottish slam poetry champion, was runner-up at the world slam poetry finals in Paris and semi-finalist at the World Poetry Slam Organisation finals in Rio de Janeiro.
