I am a poet, writer and editor with a primary focus on disability and chronic illness, although my work has addressed LGBT and intersex issues. Through my residency at the Anatomical Museum in Edinburgh, I also explored medicine, anatomy and pathology. I have delivered workshops, given readings and participated in panels for numerous organisations and festivals including Edinburgh International Book Festival, Book Week Scotland, StAnza Poetry Festival, St Mungo’s Mirrorball, Carol Ann Duffy & Friends, and Gloucester Poetry Festival.

I hold a Master of Arts in Creative Writing (Poetry) with Distinction from Manchester Metropolitan University and a PhD in Health in Social Science from the University of Edinburgh. My doctorate explored how poetry writing may enhance understandings of life with multiple sclerosis. I was diagnosed with MS 23 years ago and am a passionate advocate of poetry in the disabled community. I specialise in delivering inclusive, collaborative projects, and have devised and facilitated workshops for people living with MS and MND, as well as students and staff. In previous roles in schools and as Learning Manager at Scottish Poetry Library, I also planned and delivered writing workshops and creative projects on diverse curricular topics with students aged 8-18.
