Fidan Meikle is an Azerbaijani-British writer, poet, and linguist based in Scotland. She writes stories and poems for readers of all ages, with a focus on identity, belonging, empathy, and the refugee experience. Her debut novel, My Name is Samim (Floris Books, May 2025), is inspired by the real-life journey of a young refugee, with a sequel to follow in spring 2026. Her poetry has appeared in Scottish PEN's PENing, Sunday Morning at the River, Motherlore, and SpellBound Books's publications.

With a background in language teaching and multilingual education, Fidan brings her passion for inclusive, diverse storytelling to schools, libraries, and festivals. Her event programme encourages young readers to explore complex issues such as the refugee crisis, identity, the meaning of home, and the importance of kindness, unity, and courage. Through discussion, writing, and story-based activities, Fidan helps children connect deeply with characters and discover the power of their own voice.

Fidan is available for school visits, library events, and literary panels. Her sessions celebrate diverse voices and create space for big questions, thoughtful conversations, and creative expression.
