I’m a Scottish-Italian children’s author living in the Scottish Borders and I write picture books and fiction for 9-12 year olds.

My debut picture book I’m Not Cute, I’m Dangerous is a humorous tale about a fluffy crocodile who, fed up with being teased by her older siblings, decides to use her differences to her own advantage. The main themes are not judging by appearances, self-acceptance, animals, nature and family relationships.

For all ages, I aim to make sessions lively and interactive, and to nurture a love of books and stories. With younger age groups, this might involve the use of props, puppets, songs and arts and crafts. With older children, I use picture books to illustrate the main beats that underpin stories, encouraging them to use these elements to shape their own writing.

As a former ESL teacher and trained counsellor, I love interacting with pupils, inviting them to share their own experiences, questions, thoughts and ideas about stories, writing and the publishing Industry. As a book blogger at My Book Corner, I read a lot of contemporary children’s fiction and am passionate about benefits of reading for pleasure. Ultimately, I hope to foster this joy in young readers!
