Authors Live on Lockdown

Tune into Authors Live events together from home.

BBC Authors Live brings free, world-class author and illustrator events for children and young people right into your home. All our broadcasts are available to watch anywhere on Authors Live On Demand. Join families all over Scotland to watch our scheduled programme of broadcasts and use our learning resources.

Each week, Scottish Book Trust will highlight three past broadcasts (one for lower primary, one for upper primary and one for secondary) that families can watch together at home at any point during the week. Each broadcast will also have an accompanying set of learning activities, which you will find linked below the video on each Authors Live page.

Week beginning Monday 25 May

Ross Collins: Ross shares his beloved story There's a Bear on My Chair and discusses where he gets his ideas from. Be sure to have paper and pencils ready to join in a step-by-step draw along! Suitable for age 3-8.

Lauren St John and Elizabeth Laird: Originally broadcast to celebrate World Oceans Day, Lauren St John and Elizabeth Laird explore the importance of looking after the oceans, and discuss where their inspiration for writing comes from. Suitable for age 6-11.

Patrick Ness: Popular children's author Patrick Ness discusses his novel More Than This and speaks about the importance of Young Adult fiction. Suitable for age 12+

We hope that you will join us for a fantastic series of events. For more at-home inspiration, why not explore our learning resources, book lists or the Bookbug Song and Rhyme Library?
