Using books to support your National Trust for Scotland visit
Developed in partnership with the National Trust for Scotland(this link will open in a new window), this resource suggests texts you can use to extend pupils’ learning from a class or school visit to a National Trust for Scotland place – including Culloden, The Battle of Bannockburn, the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and more!
We’ve hand selected page-turning texts that will encourage reading for pleasure and deepen pupils’ understanding of key themes, including Scottish history and culture, as well as sustainability and conservation. Whether running with unicorns in Glencoe or discovering Robert Burns’s early life as a farmer, these books will encourage interest in, and empathy for, some of Scotland’s most beloved natural, cultural, and historic places.
Each text can be used before or after your visit and comes with inspiration for cross-curricular learning activities as well as links to further resources you can use in your classroom or school.
