The Future Is Here

Author: Jared
Year: Future

There's a saying - the future is bright - though for me the future is full of fright. All the possibilities!

Adventures unknown, every tomorrow is the future's delight. The beginning of the first step into a new life. Where to go? Forward or hide, stay still or move, what to do, progress is a must. For the future is here. Every passing minute is a new moment, hold it tight, enjoy it day and night. For the future may not always be bright, though always remember darkness is followed by light. So cherish the moments both black and white.

To me the future is a chance to progress from our failures and regrets. A chance to build relationships and a chance to make a new life. Without a future, what would we do? How would our children grow and our lives progress? No one knows what the future holds is something people say. To me the future holds two things: hope and nothing. Nothing turns into everything because with nothing there’s nothing to lose. Then with Hope there’s everything to gain, a blank page for you to begin, the possibilities are endless. Excited, I am!

The future moves every day. The moment it arrives is the moment in front of your eyes. So don’t chase it too far, as it’s gone in a single blink of an eye. One single step at a time is how I plan to spend mine. There’s no simple solution, problems to solve, obstacles to overcome. The excitement is endless. How will my life unfold? No one knows until it’s too late, so enjoy every moment while you’re still awake and not experiencing eternal darkness.

My mind thinks fast, ADHD I may have, every thought then something changed. As a boy I wanted to be a fireman. London’s Burning got me hooked. Woodwork and fixing were my next incline. Joiner or carpenter I wanted to be. This was not to happen as you will see. Drink and drugs were my path in life, violence was my downfall. Prison was to follow. 10 years have been and gone. I am nearly out. My future is approaching. Family life, working hard, staying sober, is all I hope my life will harbour.

Even if your future changes, your past remains the same. So make it count while it lasts. Family, friends, have a blast. Don’t forget each of you count when you want to scream and shout. The past won’t define my name! To the future off I go. Travelling light, enjoying my life, one step at a time in the right direction I must head.

In the past, my compass was broken. Spinning around in the wrong direction. Stopping East instead of South and North instead of West. Sending me off course.

To find the right direction where I have rested for many long years. Learning skills for the life I see ahead and gained insight and understanding of the journeys I have already travelled. Now I feel my morale compass has been fixed and feel able to face the future in the right direction.

The son I left behind is gone, grown into a mighty boy. Teenaged, he is on his way, strong, smart, and able I judge this one. The future for me is to hope I see this young soul laugh long and louder than I’m around. Is there an afterlife? Looking down watching our loved ones from afar, only the future will reveal.

So then readers, I hope you enjoyed the future thoughts and feelings I implied. I will leave you here for travel. I must. Into the future I must trust.
