Soon I'll be a pensioner
What can I find to do?
No more working days for me
and routine chores are few.

No early morning rises
with frost and cold and snow
or half-hour freezing bus rides
as off to work I'd go.

But what about the future?
What will each day unfold
while the mystery that's my life
goes on as I grow old?

A transition year maybe
is something I may choose.
Perhaps a 'senior gap year'
is something I'll peruse.

But what could I do with it?
I have some aches and pains.
Old age does not come alone
my bones are not the same!

Build on my experience
is worthy of a thought
or should I just be different?
My answer is 'Why not?'

So where are the adventures
for senior folks like me?
Online info, that's the thing
my way to being free.

So internet, here I come
without much expertise
to plan my 'senior gap year'
so help me do this please!

Swim with dolphins someone said
but that I cannot see
the local swimming pool is
the only place for me.

Skiing in the Alps could be
a thing that I'd learn best
but having seen pics online
I feel I need a rest.

Could I do a study course,
what subject would I like?
The choice is quite confusing
I'll never get this right.

A new site has just popped up
for folks who like romance.
Is this fate I have to say
or just too big a chance?

The hype is getting to me,
the ads are just too much.
Why has the screen gone blank now?
Which button did I touch?

Internet has just gone off
is this a telling sign?
Should I find a real life way
of using up my time?

Nature and the countryside
has beauty, fresh and bright.
Country roads wait there for me,
now where's my mountain bike?
