between starshine and clay

Author: Maryhill Integration Network

here on this bridge between
starshine and clay
Lucille Clifton, won’t you celebrate with me

-

humans came from the stars. each looks similar, but is not the same
everyone has the stars in the sky

one moment we can shine. why not?
under a rain of stars, celebrate your life in your own way

in your hands: nothing.
you can make happier things

you can lift your life up and celebrate
the creation of life from the clay

Some are born, some pass away, watching the sky
One life is finished and one life starts

come now. time is flying. every day we go forwards.
celebrate in that moment, in a second, what can pass,
what can be endured, what can be altered

we don’t know what happens after tomorrow
we don’t know what happens after one hour
