This song has some lovely 'peekaboo' moments. Try placing your hands in front of your eyes and singing 'Where are the children?' softly to your little one, until the peekaboo reveal. You can also personalise the song to include your child's name eg. Where is Sally, wish I knew.
How to use this rhyme with toddlers
Find a sheet, towel or blanket and try taking it in turns to play peekaboo singing 'Where are the children?' or 'Where are the parents?' with your toddler. If you have a teddy or doll, the children could put it under the blanket while they sing the song with you.
How to use this rhyme with 3-5 year olds
This is the perfect song to introduce some lycra or props. Children can hide underneath the lycra or blanket until the big 'peekaboo' reveal, when the children are discovered! To build anticipation you can keep singing 'Where are all the children' until the big reveal. Children will always giggle and laugh the longer they stay hidden!
