The Essence of True Friendship
Solitude poses questions to the mind during quiet moments: How does one recognise a true friendship?
And to this, the mind replies:
'My dear friend, a true friend is the one who holds your hand when no one else is by your side. The one who makes you laugh even in the darkest of times, who offers a shoulder to cry on.
In genuine friendship, the individual grows emotionally. It is the company that uplifts you, the influence that nudges you gently towards the brighter side. A true friend is a counsellor in times of crisis, a healer in moments of hurt. Someone with whom you feel light, unburdened. Someone who accepts you entirely – your flaws and virtues alike.
A real friend never asks you to change. They guide you from darkness into light. There is no obligation, no expectation of return – just a simple, enduring bond that exists between the two of you.
It is a friendship that transcends names and social status, beyond limits and borders. The one who dares to say, ‘Everything is okay’, even when nothing truly is – and means it with all sincerity. The one who strives to make the impossible possible – such is a friend.
A friend is not chosen by blood, but by heart – and thus remains close, deeply touched within our hearts. He is the one who senses, who feels just as we do. He is the sun that breaks through the dark clouds of winter. He is the hope that inspires motivation.
He is the one you wish to confide in, free from the fear of judgement. A true friend helps you to blossom, like a cherry tree in spring.'
But where does one find such a friend? – asks Solitude.
And the mind replies:
'That friend is hidden within you, my friend. The deeper you journey into yourself, the closer you will come to finding him.'
