Unexpected Moments

Author: Hamish Hutchinson

It’s hoping for sun, when you’re feeling like rain,
Every house, every corner a rainbow,
It’s celebrating life, when there’s been so much pain,
Neighbours coming together as one,
It’s being at work, when home is still near,
A parent, a pupil, a teacher,
It’s being virtually there, when you’d rather be here,
Holding moments, like family and friends,
It’s being touched by a stranger, when there’s no touch at all,
Homeschooling ourselves to be better,
It’s the sound of the wild, when there's no traffic wall,
Nature can finally breathe,
It’s seeing the future, when the past still feels late,
A new world built on the present,
It's those little things that matter, the big things will wait,
For that day, will soon come again.
