Authors Live: Margaret McDonald

Margaret McDonald joins Authors Live to talk all things Glasgow Boys

It's not often that a debut novel goes on to win multiple awards, but that's exactly what happened to Scottish author Margaret McDonald and her debut YA novel Glasgow Boys, which won The Carnegie Medal, UKLA Book Award and Branford Boase Prize.

Margaret will be joining us to talk about how her experience of shielding during the Pandemic in 2020 made her want to write the story of Finlay and Banjo that has gone on to capture so many hearts. We'll explore care experience, masculinity and working-class representations in fiction. We'll hear how Margaret began as a writer of fanfiction in her youth and how she developed her writing talent to go on to be one of Scotland's most exciting young writers. This is one not to be missed by YA and creative writing fans alike.
