07874 768100 [email protected]This years Writers Gathering aims to bridge culture through literature by exploring Universalism and Cultural Relativity in Writing.
We invite writers, budding writers, creatives, and everyone from diverse backgrounds to delve into the profound themes of universalism and cultural relativity, concepts that shape our understanding of morality, identity, and storytelling across cultures. As we celebrate African and Scottish literary traditions, the event will explore how universal values influence our perception of what is normal or true, while also examining the importance of respecting cultures and relative differences. We simply want to answer the question, what inspires storytelling? Is it universalism or cultural relativity?
Join us in a dialogue that challenges us to balance the pursuit of universal human truths with an appreciation of unique cultural narratives. Through panels, workshops, and performances, authors will share insights on how these philosophical principles impact their craft, influence character development, and shape narratives in a diverse world. This festival aims to foster cross-cultural understanding, inspire innovative storytelling, and promote an inclusive literary community committed to both universal human experiences and cultural authenticity.
