This November we are thrilled to welcome Alan Bissett for this special Book Week Scotland edition!
Alan Bissett is one of Scotland’s most dynamic and engaging contemporary writers. Born and raised in Falkirk, he is the author of several acclaimed novels including Boyracers, The Incredible Adam Spark, Death of a Ladies’ Man, and Pack Men. Bissett’s work is known for its sharp wit, social insight, and distinctive voice, capturing modern Scottish life with both humour and heart. He is also a celebrated playwright and performer, best known for his award-winning one-woman show The Moira Monologues, which has toured extensively across Scotland and beyond. Combining bold storytelling with cultural commentary, Bissett’s writing bridges the literary and the theatrical, making him one of the most exciting voices in Scottish arts today.
Alan will be reading from his work and sharing reflections on writing, creativity, and the stories that shape us. This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of Scotland’s leading literary figures in an intimate local setting. So come along, settle in, and let the evening unfold. Sip something warm, listen to the rhythm of words, and join us in celebrating the written and spoken word in all its forms. SkyeLIT is more than just an event—it’s a community of readers, writers, and dreamers who believe that stories have the power to connect us all.
