Join us for a special event during Book Week Scotland 2025 in which we look at the life and friendships of Nan Shepherd.

In recent years, Nan Shepherd has often been imagined as a solitary walker and writer. This talk, by Dr Tim Barker, look at the importance of female friendship in her writing and life, placing Shepherd as one node of a much larger network of Aberdonian women writers and thinkers. In particular, it focuses on her correspondence with Agnes Mure Mackenzie and Lynn Irvine, as well as her later friendship with Jessie Kesson.

Spaces at this free event are limited, so booking is essential.
