Have you always wanted to write a short story? Now is your chance! Join us at Loanhead Library for a short story writing workshop with our guest Vicki Jarret. Prompts and tips will unleash your imagination and you will be amazed at where your creativity can take you.

We will use the Book Week Scotland theme for 2025: Friendship.

Whether you are a first time writer, or have been scribbling away for years, you will be very welcome.

About Vicki

Vick Jarret is a novelist and short story writer and lives in my Edinburgh. She divides her time between writing, teaching English and creative writing, and working with Midlothian Libraries! Nothing is Heavy, her first novel, was shortlisted for the Saltire Society Scottish First Book of the Year Award in 2013. Her collection of short stories, The Way Out, was longlisted for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award 2015, the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize 2015, and the Edge Hill Short Story Prize 2016. Her novel, Always North, was published in 2019.
