[email protected]We are thrilled to host poet Ken Cockburn as he leads a writing workshop using artworks as prompts.
We will be thinking about the many stories a picture can tell – starting with the image itself, but also considering the object: where it's been seen, and by whom. We will use artworks (framed prints) as prompts, so we think about the image, and the artist making it, and those who have engaged with the object, e.g. framers, buyers, sellers, owners, viewers.
A bit about Ken
Ken Cockburn(this link will open in a new window) is a poet and translator based in Edinburgh. After several years at the Scottish Poetry Library, since 2004 he has freelanced, working in education, care and community settings, and often collaborating with visual artists. He also runs Edinburgh Poetry Tours, guided walks with readings of poems in the city’s Old Town.
This event is open to all, and no writing experience at all is required to join us. It will be a gentle evening of creativity.
