Kirsty has been gardening since she was 14, and has a first-class degree in horticulture and a diploma in garden design. She is Herbaceous Supervisor at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, presents on BBC’s Beechgrove Garden, and a panellist on Gardeners’ Question Time on Radio 4. Further, she is an award-winning garden designer, photographer, member of the RHS Herbaceous Committee, and has worked for King Charles at Highgrove.

Kirsty is passionate about plants and garden design and, in particular, sustainable gardening: she wants to inspire people to grow plants, connect with nature, and have a positive impact on the world. Her new book, Gardening With Nature, beautifully illustrated by Hazel France, will stimulate all gardeners to re-imagine their green spaces.

Practical information on planning is followed by expert guidance on: planting for wildlife in nectar-rich borders, wildflower meadows, hedgerows, trees and shrubs; building for wildlife with bird boxes, bug boxes, feeders and ponds; green gardening approaches with fruit and veg production, rain gardens, green roofs, compost-making and creating new plants through propagation; attracting birds, bees, butterflies and other insects, aquatic life and nightlife.

Kirsty will tell us many wonderful things about gardens, where there is always something new to learn.
