Join football writer and broadcaster Daniel Gray for an evening under the floodlights in one of only two listed football stands in Scotland at Netherdale in Galashiels. Designed by acclaimed architect Peter Womersley in the 1960s, the brutalist concrete stand was restored and reopened in 2022. Each week, hundreds of players dream of making it as footballers under its watchful concrete eye.

During the event, Daniel will read from his latest football book Silence of the Stands which sees him seek out the soul of the game during the long and difficult months of the pandemic. Gray has become one of the UK's most beloved football writers, known for seeing the sport through kinder eyes and sharing the simple joys of the beautiful game with a wider audience.

Daniel will be joined by Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award Winner, and Galashiels boy, Craig Aitchison who will perform poems inspired by the Netherdale stand.

Join us for this free event in the Gala Fairydean Rovers Clubroom underneath the concrete stand where footballing dreams come true.
