One of Ireland's premier writers, Belfast man, Bernard MacLaverty now lives in Glasgow. He has published five novels, including Grace Notes (shortlisted for the Booker prize and awarded the Saltire Society Scottish Book of the year 1997).

His first novel Cal became a major film starring Helen Mirren. He has also published six collections of short stories.

His latest book is Blank Pages & Other Stories.

Bernard is a member of Aosdana, an organisation that aims to "honour artists whose work has made an outstanding contribution to the arts in Ireland".
