Why digital accessibility is important to us

As part of our mission to bring the joy of reading, writing and books to everyone in Scotland, Scottish Book Trust is committed to making our websites and digital products accessible to as many people as possible.

This focus aligns with our intention to embed equality, diversity and inclusion work in our programmes, organisational structure and culture, and to remove barriers to participation in our programmes.

Report an accessibility issue or request information in a different format

We're always looking to improve the accessibility of our website, apps and other digital products. If you find any problems not listed within our statements (linked below) or need information on this website in a different format, contact us at digital@scottishbooktrust.com(this link will open in a new window) or by calling 0131 524 0160.

Accessibility testing

Our Digital Team carries out testing internally on our websites and apps once a year using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1(this link will open in a new window) AA standard. In addition to a range of manual and automated tests on sample pages, we use Silktide, a quality assurance platform, to monitor our whole website more regularly.

Read our statements for more information on how accessible our website and apps are, and the measures we take to support accessibility.

Our long-term commitment to digital accessibility

We are currently working through immediate and long-term actions to improve internal and external processes around digital accessibility that go beyond our products and content. We used AbilityNet’s Digital Accessibility Maturity Model (DAMM)(this link will open in a new window) toolkit to assess what we’re doing well, how we would like to improve and the practical next steps to do so.
