Some look at the bricks and mortar and see only pound signs
Some have ten locks on the door to keep the real world out
Some see a lofty gable end and high roof as a status symbol
Some count the bedrooms so to massage their egos
I welcome the friends and strangers who make my life so good
I welcome the chance meeting on the street that raises hope
I seek the friendly glance that says ‘We’re all in this together’
I build my home in my heart where I know it will always be safe and mine
