The Future

Author: (K)nomad
Year: Future

The future is a step away,
a ramble to the unexplored,
filled with fear and trepidation,
obscured trails branching out,
the fog of doubt, trying to win out

The journeys pace,
compelled by a force,
not always felt,
not always heard,
leaving you not in control.

Loss, hurt, fear and pain,
hunger, thirst,
causing the silent scream,
the cried tear that never fell,
sustenance to endure.

Joy, happiness and hope,
the quiet joke,
the meagre feast shared,
the necessary balm,
to sooth the dark.

Times of plenty,
or poor man’s sauce,
tribulations and trials,
or delightful ecstasy,
apart, never truly alone.

Caught in the maelstrom,
a moment becalmed,
basking glory,
the whirlwind romance,
onwards the only safe haven.

Yet to unfold,
the unwritten story,
we all must play our part,
with stumbling grace and poise,
continue it must, as that is us.

We must with vigour and zeal,
banish the phantom of despair,
or otherwise languish in decay,
yet we must embrace the dark,
to enlighten the path.
