Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour: Joseph Coelho
Apply now to host Children's Laureate Joseph Coelho at your school in Orkney, the Western Isles, or Highland in May 2023.
Multi award-winning poet, playwright, author, and 2022–2024 Waterstones Children's Laureate, Joseph Coelho is coming to Orkney, the Western Isles, and Highland for a week jam-packed with fantastic school and library events.
During his visit to your school, Joseph will talk about his journey to becoming a poet and share his poems and stories to make you smile, laugh, feel brave and more! Joseph will share tips on creating your very own poems using his unmissable Poetry Prompts(this will open in a new window), which he launched during his time as the Children’s Laureate in partnership with BookTrust – so you can become a poet too!
You will need a way to display PowerPoint slides stored on a USB, and a flipchart and pens for Joseph.
Joseph is also open to hosting his event outside in nature. If you'd like to discuss this option, let us know in your application.

Who: Primary schools
Where: Your school (Orkney, Western Isles, Highland)
Cost: Fully funded
Audience: P1–4 (Rural schools with a smaller school roll are welcome to include older pupils too)
Audience size: Entire/multiple year groups or assembly preferred. Applications welcome from smaller cluster schools.
Deadline for applications: Wednesday 29 March, 12 noon
