Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour: Joseph Elliott

Joseph Elliott is the award-winning author of the Shadow Skye trilogy, as well as a popular children's television actor (CBeebies' Swashbuckle) and script writer. He will be joining the Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour in November for a series of unmissable school events in Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, South Ayrshire and East Ayrshire.

For audiences of whole or mulitple year groups

Joseph Elliott will share stories from his life as an actor and author, explore themes of difference and acceptance, give insight into the publishing process, as well as innovative and practical tips for writing your own stories. Joseph will also lead an interactive quiz, and take part in a Q&A with your pupils.

For groups of up to 30 pupils

Joseph is able to lead any of the following writing workshops, all of which encourage pupils to express themselves creatively in a relaxed and informal environment. Please specify which workshop you are interested in when you complete your application.

1. Unlocking creativity: Magical beasts

This workshop aims to help pupils to access their creative potential with practical tips and exercises, culminating in a magic-inspired creative writing task.

2. Creating LGBTQ+ characters

This workshop looks at different ways to create fully-rounded characters when writing fiction, with a particular focus on discussions around the importance of LGBTQ+ representation in books.

3. Scriptwriting masterclass

This workshop explores all aspects of scriptwriting including genre, conflict, character, and dialogue. Pupils will then be given the opportunity to try their hand at creating their very own scripts.
