Scottish Friendly Children's Book Tour: Gaming and Writing with Tom Nicoll and Jamie Russell

Applications for this event are now closed.

Join authors Tom Nicoll and Jamie Russell in this online event for P4–7 as they discuss their shared love for gaming and how it influenced their writing careers and changed their lives.

Jamie was only five years old when he saw his first arcade machine in action (it was Space Invaders in a greasy fish and chip shop!). He went on to become a film reviewer, editor, screenwriter and writer for gaming bible Edge Magazine.

Tom is an award-winning writer of funny books for children, including the There's a Dragon in my... series and Boyband of the Apocalypse, which won the Stockton Children's Book of the Year 2019. He'll mainly be talking about his video game based series Level Up. Tom admits he's not very good at gaming, but that doesn't stop him from playing. His current favourite game is Rocket League whereas Jamie is all about Overwatch.

There will also be a chance for pupils to ask Tom and Jamie all their burning questions.

Live virtual events will go ahead with a limited schools audience. We'll then share a recording of the event on our website to watch on demand. Applications are open to anyone who wants to join live.
